Why won't my paint stay put?



I recently primed my walls and ceiling with an oil-based primer, then put up a coat of water-based ceiling paint. Within an hour, several areas peeled and fell to the floor. Some areas have a yellowish cast like something seeped through the ceiling and primer coats. What gives?
